Cape Fear Community College has been celebrating its 50th Anniversary and they want you to get in on the fun this weekend.

To begin the festivities, the college showed off a new plaque Thursday, that describes how CFCC opened in 1958 with 750 students.  Now, 26,000 attend classes at the college.

CFCC is inviting everyone to attend a festival Saturday at both the downtown campus and north campus, where dozens of activity booths will tell the story of all that goes on at the fast-growing facility.

Some of the things featured include free manicures, computer clean up, TV studio tours, live bands, and more.

How to Get to the North Campus

(4500 Blue Clay Rd. in Castle Hayne)

I-40 East (coming from the North)

  1. Cross the Northeast Cape Fear River Bridge
  2. Take the #414 exit
  3. Turn left at the stop sign (this is Holly Shelter Road)
  4. Turn left at the stoplight (this is Highway 133/117 South)
  5. Stay in the left lane and bear left at the fork in the road (this is Hwy. 132/117)
  6. Continue 1.6 miles to the stoplight (Blue Clay Road intersection)
  7. Turn left at the stoplight -- the campus is on the right.

I-40 West (coming from Wilmington)

  1. Leave I-40 on exit #420-B
  2. Merge onto Highway 132/117 (North College Road)
  3. Drive north, pass Northchase and Laney High School
  4. Cross Overpass
  5. Turn right at the next light onto Blue Clay Road -- the campus is on the right.

From MLK Parkway

  1. Follow the MLK Parkway and exit at the Burgaw Hwy. 133 ramp
  2. Follow Hwy. 133 to the 2nd traffic light, turn right onto N. Kerr Avenue
  3. Follow N. Kerr Avenue and turn left onto Blue Clay Road at light
  4. Follow Blue Clay Road about 3 miles to the light at Hwy. 132/117 (N. College Road)
  5. Cross College Road -- the campus is on the right.
